CAMBRIDGE THERAPY PONIES

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN YOUR VISIT?
Our ponies will go anywhere, quietly handled and completely trusting their handlers they can be brought to see the most severely disabled or restricted mobility clients. They come into buildings, lounge areas, bedrooms and along corridors.
They will even gently walk into lifts and get up to see the most restricted and visit clients in their rooms or beds. For them, a lift is no different than being transported in a horse box or lorry. They stand quietly as they feel it moving. Everyone will get chance to meet the ponies, gently touch them and talk to them. The ponies stand quietly and take their time to wander about meeting each person. They stand quietly to be petted and stroked, or have some time being brushed.
They know their job well and will rest quietly with eyes half closed and a back foot resting.

HOW LONG CAN THEY STAY INDOORS?
Our visits are about an hour long when indoors, as after that they like to be back outside again in the fresh air. We never allow our ponies to get upset or irritated and an hour is long enough to keep them happy.

WHAT IF THEY MAKE ANY MESS?
We often get asked this. Well, they haven't yet wee'd inside in 8 years, they don't actually like doing this in a building, they prefer grass, straw or shavings underfoot.
There may on very rare occasions where there are a few small droppings, but we carry dog-poo bags and with an escorting building Carer quickly whipping in with hygiene spray and a cloth, the evidence is quickly cleared away.
It is only chewed up grass after all, so not a horrid poo.
